Prep Science Olympiad Team Takes 1st

The Tri-Cities Prep Science Olympiad Team continued it’s tradition of placing as a top school in The Washington State Eastern Regional Tournament for Science Olympiad this past weekend.  Our Tri-Cities Prep team has placed 1st in eight of the past nine years, and this year was no exception!

The students achieved twelve first place awards (school record) and each team member medaled in more than one event to earn them 1st place in this highly competitive event.  The competition draws teams from both public and private high schools all across eastern Washington.

Sarah Carlson, Celeste Davis, Kenny Ireland, Chandler Jenkins, Ying Ying Li, Hollis Long, McCall Lovejoy, McKenna Lovejoy, Jacob Meeuwsen, Angelina Nacke, Addia Ochweri, Joseph Paoli, Paddy St. Hilaire, Rory St. Hilaire, Christina Shink, Michael Sun, Colin Sweeney and Jacoby Wieber took the top honors by each competing in three or four events.  Each event requires an hour long exam.  The team needed to compete in all 24 areas in order to advance to the State competition.

The students are coached by volunteers: Jan Hylden, Gregg Lumetta and Michele Lumetta and event mentors: Arnold Eng, Nick Lumetta, and Frannie Smith.

Congratulations to the team and coaches for your remarkable hardwork and success!  We wish you the best of luck at the state competion in April.
