Two teams represented Tri-Cities Prep in the Mission Support Alliance, Connect Tri-Cities STEM Competition on Tuesday, October 10th, competing against other area high schools both private and public.
Each of the 11 teams were challenged to work on a solution to a hypothetical community earthquake scenario that would harness the power of a chlorine maker to aid in the survival of rural victims trapped in the local high school. A panel of 6 judges reviewed their written summaries, listened to team presentations and asked questions of each team member. The top 3 teams would earn scholarship prizes. The winning team members could potentially earn a $2,000 scholarship each.
The two Prep teams were:
Team One: Temo Mayorquin ’19, Tedra LeFreniere ’19, Sarah Carlson ’19, Hannah DeSmet ’19 & Colin Sweeney ’20
Team Two: Evan Sweeney ’18, Chandler Jenkins ’18, Jacob Meeuwsen ’18, Christian Shink ’18 & Michael Sun ’18
Congratulations to Temo, Tedra, Sarah, Hannah, Colin and Prep teacher Kim Bowen on their 2nd place award! Each student won a $1,500 scholarship and Mrs. Bowen won a $750 scholarship!
