Sophomore Aubrey Scott has an incredible voice as witnessed by those who saw her performance in the Twelfth Night or attend mass on Fridays at Tri-Cities Prep.  This past week Aubrey was adjudicated at the Musicfest Northwest:  Festival for Young Musicians and Dancers held at Gonzaga University. Her perfomances of Widmung and The K’e in the Class 10, Grade 10, Solo Division, won her a Silver Medal and a Certificate of Merit rating of Excellent.  Aubrey was also invited to perform on a Spokane radio station! The mission of the Festival is “To encourage, develop and improve the performance of young musicians and dancers through professional adjudication.” Entrants in the Festival receive an individual written and oral evaluation of their performance by qualified teachers and concert artists. We are so proud of Aubrey and her accomplishments and are so grateful that she is willing to share her talents with our Prep […]

Friday, April 28th marks the opening night for Prep’s 10th Anniversary show of Shakespeare in the Spring.  This season brings an all new take on Twelfth Night. Our rendition opens on board a 1920’s Jazz Era cruise ship.  The Speakeasy Club is bouncing until it encounters a storm at sea.  People are lost, identities confused, and the bounds of polite society mightily tested.  As our heroin, Viola (Lily Mortensen) emerges dressed as a man in order to enter the Duke’s court, finds herself falling in love with the Duke himself, posing an awkward situation for all involved. The Duke (Michael Powers), however, is in love with the Lady Olivia (Sarah Zepeda) and sends his top servant, Viola (disguised as Cessario) on a mission to woo her.  Olivia, however, finds herself far more enamored by the handsome Cessario than the Duke.  Further awkward, Olivia is attended by Festi, a witty yet angsty […]

The Tri-Cities Prep Mock Trial team won 1st place at the YMCA Youth and Government Mock Trial District Competition in February.  Two teams from the district competition advanced to the state competition that was held this past weekend.  Of the two Tri-City high schools competing at state,  Tri-Cities Prep placed the highest! The YMCA Youth and Government Mock Trial program is a unique blend of law, debate, and drama in which students learn about topical issues and courtroom procedures while sharpening their critical thinking and public speaking skills.  The trials are not scripted and are held in real courtrooms with real judges. Tri-Cities Prep has taken part in the Mock Trial program since 1999, competing at the state-level for 14 out of 17 years.  Unlike sports leagues, the mock trial program does not divide similarily sized schools into competetive leagues.  This means that Prep often competes against schools with much larger student populations […]
